Window & door schedules

Fineline Schedule Watcher

Reads the window and door schedule out of an architect's PDF and lays it out on a Fineline sheet, ready to work from. It runs entirely on your own machine.

Getting started

  1. Open it, go to Settings, and choose two folders: where the architect's PDFs arrive, and where you want the finished sheets. Press Save.
  2. Check the title block details while you are there, including the Drawn by and Checked by names. They are printed on every sheet.
  3. Put the PDFs in the drawings folder and press Look in that folder.
  4. Tick the ones you want, then press Make the sheets.

Reading a folder does not write anything, so you can press Look in that folder as often as you like. The original PDFs are never changed, moved or deleted.

One thing worth knowing

It does not guess. Where a drawing names its openings but never prints their sizes, it says so and produces nothing, rather than reading a number off the page and hoping. A wrong size on a schedule is worse than no schedule, because a wrong one gets cut.

So a file that comes back with a reason instead of a sheet has not failed. It has told you the drawing does not carry what you need — usually that you have the elevations and need to ask for the schedule sheet as well. Where a size could not be confirmed a second way, that opening is marked CHECK on the sheet with the reason.
